A Bridge Across was inspired by the life's work of American journalist Daniel Pearl, who was kidnapped and murdered in Pakistan in 2002. It features the violin to honor Daniel, who was a classically trained violin, fiddle, and mandolin player. Traveling around the world, Daniel used the international language of music to connect with people of all cultures.
This song, A Bridge Across, was originally performed and recorded by Dolly Parton and world-renown fiddler Mark O'Connor playing The Daniel Pearl Memorial Violin, with the Nashville Symphony for the 2009 released, 3-CD, album entitled, This Is My America (www.ThisIsMyAmerica.com), which uses original songs and spoken narratives to chronicle a timeline of significant events in America's history.

It is hoped that the words and music of this song, A Bridge Across, will serve to inspire others to continue Daniel's legacy of bridging differences around the world.
