By Daniel BaldwinComposer Notes: Every month I receive a church bulletin called The Church Visitor in my home mailbox. I usually pass it off to my wife who then informs me of the goings on in the church community. The December 2006 issue never made it to my wife. I skimmed it over and noticed on the back an anonymous poem called A Holiday Prayer which really caught my eye. I loved the simplicity of the message and decided to set it to music. My wish was to make this a nice contrast to my other winter choral piece, The Frost Bound Wood and to make it accessible, yet challenging, so that all levels of choirs might enjoy it. May Christmas time mean more to you than gifts on Christmas morn. May Christ the Lord watch over you and keep you safe and warm. May you feel the peace the whole world knew when Christ the Lord was born. May you know the special gladness and Hope that came to Earth. And may it thrill your heart just now, as Christmas comes again.
