  • "Written primarily as a preface or reason for the second pianoforte sonata-Concord, Mass., 1845" - from the description at archive.org.
  • (Would tag as autobiographies but seems not quite on-target. Preface? - Schissel)
  • Though it had a definite connection to the second piano sonata, Grove Music describes this as "his most detailed statement of his aesthetics", so it has a far more general subject matter. Aesthetics doesn't easily fall into the music theory category, so I've tagged it as music history. (Steltz)
