Perhaps an orchestration of his opus 24 no.3 for piano duet, - op.24 is also after Scheffel, and op.24 no.3 is "Romischer Carneval". Will see if I can find something in RISM having to do with op.24 pieces- maybe there is an incipit there for no.3 that might match the main theme of this work... (in which case, it would be well to create a page for op.24 and move this there as an arrangement, I think- if so, that is :) )
