The Locrian mode, a truly artificial and modern creation not related to the older church modes, has TWO half steps, between the first and second notes, and between the fourth and fifth degrees, giving it by far the least major-scale-sound flavor of the lot. So, three modal inventions, utilizing both familiar devices from the Baroque and modern elements, in various time signatures, tempos and moods, from each of three parent scales.
