Built from a simple motive emphasizing perfect fourths. F, C, Bb, and Eb. , that is manipulated with great skill, Blasenfest touches on a variety of moods and styles in a moderately contemporary vein, with chorales, fanfares and a lively, rhythmically invigorating allegro designed to give a Grade 3 band an excellent chance to show their proficiency. The brass and percussion writing is especially brilliant and effective. Out of print for several years, Blasenfest has been re-engraved and is published here in a corrected edition with a full score, for the first time, as part of Carl Fischer Classic Band Edition.
